How much straight-run do McCrometer mag meters require?
Straight-run recommendations vary based on the type of mag: insertion vs. full bore, as well as what obstructions you may have in your line. For example, for the Dura Mag, the 2" and 3" wafer-style requires 3 diameters upstream and 1 diameter downstream. For 4" and larger the Dura Mag requires 2 diameters upstream and 1 diameter downstream. For the FPI Mag, requirements vary based on obstructions like valves (gate, butterfly, double elbow) and can range from zero straight-run required to 7 diameters or more. There is extensive information on straight-run requirements in each mag meter's IOM, and additional support is offered from McCrometer's sales and technical support teams.
AMI, or advanced metering infrastructure, is a network of water meters and data system management that allow two-way communication between the meter and your utility. McCrometer's smart outputs allow a seamless connection into these systems so you can get the data you need without needing to go searching for it.
Telemetry allows users to receive data from your meter to a cell phone or laptop through satellite or cellular communication. This is ideal for remote locations or locations with multiple sites, saving you time and money as users don't need to physically be present to check their meter's data. It sends the flow data directly to you!
Traditional liners, such as rubber liners, are not permanently affixed to the meter. This opens up the risk of delamination, or separation from the meter, causing untold damage downstream of the metering point. Instead, McCrometer uses a fusion-bonded epoxy that creates a seamless barrier between the meter and the pipeline fluid eliminating risk of delamination and guaranteed for the life of the meter.
