McCrometer’s FPI Mag provides accurate measurement at both low flow rates, where accuracy is difficult to achieve, and high flows where inaccuracy results in lost revenue. When technology that offers ease of installation, flexibility across applications, reliability in performance, and top tier accuracy is presented, plant and distribution network operators are selecting the FPI Mag as their meter of choice.

The V-Cone measures differential pressure created by a cone positioned in the center of the pipe. The open area through which the fluid passes is stretched over the edge of the cone. This annular space appears to constrict flow dramatically compared to other metering technologies. This paper compares the permanent pressure loss among meters in a typical application.

In the areas of Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production, removal of hydrocarbons are becoming increasingly dependent on injected and re-injected fluids to facilitate hydrocarbon release; as new smaller wells and existing well life spans are being forced to increase with age. This paper describes the McCrometer V-Cone differential pressure meter as currently used by the Oil and Gas industry in the role of wellhead injection and allocation metering in on-shore, topside and sub-sea production applications.

The McCrometer V-Cone® differential pressure meter was introduced in the 1980’s. Initial customer review of the technology at that time was skeptical due to the radical change in emphasis of the flow regime from a central portion of a closed conduit (orifice plate) to fluid velocity profile around a centrally mounted cone.
This paper describes the principles and field use of the McCrometer V-Cone D.P. flow meter used in the role of wellhead metering, injection measurement allocation metering, custody transfer of both topside and sub-sea in on-off-shore oil, and gas production applications.

Installation effects of upstream disturbances on flowmeters are important in today’s marketplace. Lengthy upstream piping required by many types of flowmeters can substantially increase the cost of flowmeter installations.
This is especially true when flow meters are added to existing systems. Obviously, interest is building about the effects of common installation problems.

Third party tests of the FPI Mag prove that it meets all accuracy claims. Not only was the meter accurate at low flow rates where accuracy is often difficult to achieve, but it was also very accurate at high flow rates where inaccuracy equals lost revenue.
