Engineered to excel in challenging conditions and accurately measure turbulent, noisy, and low-velocity flows with ease, the EM950 is designed for durability and reliability, with no moving parts, ensuring it never requires mechanical maintenance, making it one of the lowest-maintenance solutions available on the market.
The EM950 Portable Electromagnetic Velocity and Depth Sensor, a Hach Flow solution by McCrometer, is an innovative and compact design that features engineered flow characteristics, enabling it to deliver reliable measurements even at low velocities, in very shallow water, and under turbulent flow conditions; capable of taking accurate readings in water choked with sediment, weeds, or organic debris.
For enhanced functionality, the sensor can be equipped with an optional pressure cell for automatic level measurement and precise sensor positioning, further increasing its versatility and accuracy. When the sensor is placed in flowing water, it generates a magnetic field that creates a voltage detected by electrodes embedded within the sensor. The voltage, which is proportional to the water velocity surrounding the sensor, is processed by the smart sensor's microprocessor and digitally transmitted through the cable to a portable meter display, such as the FH950, which is sold separately.
Available in two versions—one that measures velocity only, and another that measures both velocity and level—the EM950 sensor is a robust solution for a wide range of applications.
